This stunning 1940s home remodeling Highland Park project, located right on the parkway, may catch your eye at first glance, but it’s the thoughtful renovations that truly make it shine. Great Northern Builders (GNB) collaborated closely with the homeowner and architect to create a functional walk-in mudroom, perfect for kids and pets.
We also added a bright home office featuring corner windows to maximize natural light, making it an inspiring workspace. The kitchen renovation posed challenges, but we embraced them to enhance the home’s functionality while preserving its charm.
Our commitment to maintaining the original design was evident in our use of the same oak hardwood floors, beautifully refinished with a deep rich stain. We meticulously replicated new doors to match the nearly 80-year-old originals and added hand-troweled plasterwork around the arches, preserving the home’s historical integrity.
With a new roof, L.P. Smartside siding, and all-new Marvin Windows, this project exemplifies our dedication to quality and craftsmanship. If you’re considering home remodeling Highland Park, Great Northern Builders is your go-to choice for transforming your space while honoring its unique character!
If you get a chance check out the other work we completed on this project with our Pick-up on the Parkway sport court and our Classic Meets Modern bathroom remodel.
This home was also featured in the Parade of Homes Spring Preview in 2017. See if you can tell what is new or original.
