Bathroom Remodel in Inver Grove

Blue Oasis Bath

This Inver Grove Heights bathroom, originally built in 1992, was due for a full refresh. Designed to serve as both the main bath for two growing boys and a guest bath for visiting grandparents, the space needed to be durable, functional, and welcoming. Outdated tile, broken cabinets, poor lighting, and moisture damage were replaced with thoughtful design and modern materials. The result: a bathroom that feels fresh, functional, and ready for everyday family life.

Highlights include a walk-in shower with built-in niches, a bench, a removable wand sprayer, and a glass door for easy access. Custom white oak vanity cabinets add warmth, while a hidden toe-kick drawer offers convenience for the kids. Bold blue Moroccan tile pairs with sandy quartz countertops to create a modern coastal vibe. In-floor heating, a Toto bidet toilet, upgraded lighting, a toe-kick nightlight, and champagne bronze fixtures round out the space. It’s a great example of a bathroom designed for real life—with comfort, storage, and style all working together.

Project Obstacles

This 1992 bathroom, last partially updated in the early 2000s, faced extensive wear and functional issues, including failing tile, broken cabinetry, a leaking toilet, inadequate lighting, and years of moisture damage due to poor ventilation. The design had to balance the needs of two growing boys and visiting grandparents, requiring a safe, low-maintenance walk-in shower with accessible features like a bench and removable wand sprayer. Storage was a major concern after the loss of an existing linen closet, and the new vanity had to accommodate both taller adults and children. Structural limitations, including a shallow original joist layout, complicated the installation of an infinity drain. Achieving a bright, modern, and durable design that met all users’ functional needs while addressing the space’s history of moisture damage and maximizing storage required careful planning and creative problem-solving.
