The Skyline Suite

A Thoughtful, Multi-Phase Refresh Blending Function, Comfort, and Timeless Design

Project Overview

This late-1990s Eagan home was beautifully maintained and felt almost new, but the homeowners were ready to update key spaces to better support their everyday routines. Working closely with the clients—who thoughtfully selected all finishes—we developed a plan that respected the existing footprint of each space while improving overall functionality and flow.

This multi-phase project included four distinct updates, with the primary bath serving as the main focus. The first major change was removing the oversized tub and tub deck, which opened the space to accommodate a larger walk-in shower alongside a new soaking tub. Universal Design elements were incorporated throughout, including an adjustable slide bar with hand wand in the shower and a removable wand at the tub. Decorative grab bars that double as towel bars provide both safety and style.

Large-format porcelain tile, chosen to mimic natural stone, wraps the shower and tub area, creating a dramatic yet calming backdrop. A custom shower niche offers convenient storage for everyday essentials, while heavy frameless glass enhances openness and light. Champagne Bronze fixtures by Delta complement the tile selections and tie seamlessly into the home’s original golden oak cabinetry, which was intentionally preserved to maintain continuity with the rest of the house.

New custom cabinetry was added and paired with push-to-open hardware for a sleek, uncluttered look. Quartz countertops, custom lighting, and frameless beveled mirrors nod to the home’s original character while bringing it into a more modern era. The space was completed with fresh paint, smooth ceilings, and heated floors.

Project Obstacles

One of the primary challenges was creating enough space within the primary bath to comfortably accommodate both a walk-in shower and a soaking tub without sacrificing vanity or storage space. This was achieved through careful planning and layout adjustments.

Another key challenge was coordinating multiple renovation phases simultaneously while the homeowners continued to live in and use the home. Detailed scheduling, clear communication, and thoughtful sequencing allowed each space to be completed efficiently with minimal disruption.
